Order of Raphael supports WeGrow Woodwork project

WeGrow was delighted to receive a donation of £310 from the Order of Raphael at the end of last year.  WeGrow's Manager, Cathy Buck, liaised with the people who use our service and found that they really wanted to develop their wood working skills.

So we used most of the amount, generously donated, to purchase tools and equipment including drills, saws, sanders, work benches, hand tools and materials.  Autistic people taking part in the woodwork project produced planters, bird houses, feeding stations and an outdoor table.

The benefits of the project included:
• Learning new practical skills
• Improving team working
• Developing creativity

Because the tools are now there and available the woodwork project will be ongoing and have lasting benefits.

“Thank you to everyone at the Order of St Raphael for your support, I have seen people grow in confidence through this project which simply wouldn’t have happened without your donation.”  Cathy Buck, Service Manager

A small amount of the money you donated paid for a BSL online course so that key staff could better support & communicate with an autistic deaf man who uses the WeGrow service.  This has enabled us to enrich the experiences he has at WeGrow on a day to day
basis.

"Being able to sign has enabled me to provide even better support to him."
