Posted on 1st August 2019

Summer celebrations are boosted as Sefton Council awards Peterhouse School with a special environmental award

Pupils and staff at Peterhouse School had much to celebrate at their Summer Concert as, on top of the usual festivities they were presented with the Green Star Award for most improved school in The Green Star League by Anne-Marie Clegg of Sefton Council.

The Southport Specialist School & College which supports pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition, rose to fourth place overall in the Green Star Primary School League Table.

The Green Star league looks at environmental issues, a school’s Carbon emissions and the energy rating of the school buildings. Green Stars are awarded based on the Green Star League Table questionnaire sent back by schools which takes into account the topic such as composting & gardening; energy & water; travel plans; recycling and waste minimisation; and litter picking.

Peterhouse Head Janet Allan said: “We were delighted to receive the award for most improved Green Star School. Much of the credit for this achievement should go to our Student Council, as well as the effort of classes, who have worked so hard to improve the environment around the school. Thank you to all our pupils and staff for their enthusiasm and interest!”
