Gina Steps Up for Autism

Posted on 28th July 2020

After hearing she needed to improve her health and fitness Gina Stanton resolved to change more than just her life for the better by taking on the Sandstone Trail for autism ...

Well done and many thanks to Gina Stanton of ACSL Solicitors who completed the 34 mile Sandstone Trail in Cheshire over 2 days this July to raise money for Autism Initiatives.

Gina, a member of BNI Lima, said: "This challenge has been the making of me this year. I resolved, after a telling off from my GP, to improve my health & fitness, and this challenge was my way of making myself publicly accountable while supporting the wonderful work you do at Autism Initiatives. When I first started in January I was on my knees after 8 miles, but I've steadily extended my mileage every week, so that a nice pleasant weekend walk for me is now 15 miles. It’s been hard, walking in all weathers and braving blisters and even losing a toenail at one point, but so worth it. I’m still as traditionally built as ever, but I’ve got a lovely tan and completely cured my high blood pressure problem, and breaking the £1000 has given me the biggest buzz in years. Whoever said that true happiness is to be found in helping others was absolutely right"

Fellow BNI Lima members have been a great support to Gina, sponsoring her, cheering her on, walking sections of the walk with her and also sharing her fundraising page with their business contacts, family and friends.

Ed Green Community Fundraiser for Autism Initiatives said “Gina has worked tirelessly over the last few months promoting her challenge to all her contacts family and friends, she trained so hard and the actual Sandstone Trail at the weekend was a huge physical challenge because of the weather but she still kept all her supporters informed with live video updates as she progressed through the wild Cheshire countryside."

Autism Initiatives is delighted to be the charity member of BNI Lima. Over 20 businesses belong to the business networking group in Liverpool which supports each member by referring each other with referrals for business from their contacts. BNI Lima have been working with Ed Green to support Autism Initiatives since November 2019.

Ed Green Community Fundraiser for Autism Initiatives said “The members of BNI Lima have taken on Autism Initiatives as their charity member and since November 2019 have raised lots of funds for the charity by taking part in the Liverpool Santa Dash, The Walk for Autism, and they even had an virtual ‘Afternoon Tea for Autism’ during lock down. Sadly other corporate fundraising events have had to be cancelled or postponed because of the COVID 19 situation, but more will be happening soon when it is safe and the guidelines allow them to take place.”

Thanks again to Gina for taking on the Sandstone Challenge for Autism Initiatives and raising an amazing £1021 so far!
