Highland One Stop Shop to Stay Open for 2020

Posted on 28th May 2020

Autism Initiatives is delighted to announce that our Highland One Stop Shop will continue operating for another year

We are extremely grateful to the Scottish Government’s Wellbeing and Resilience Fund for providing us with much needed funds, and, together with funds raised locally and by our fundraisers through trusts, we are close to the amount needed to fund the service until March 2021.

These funds, along with the financial commitment made by the Autism Initiatives Group, have enabled us to give you this good news - so early in the financial year.

This has allowed us to continue to operate and provide essential support to autistic people, in Highland, who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Without the support and contact from the Highland One Stop Shop team, hundreds of autistic people would have endured additional disadvantages.

We are continuing to provide a wide range of our services in Highland. The majority of these are remote – one to one appointments, group activities, learning and development are delivered via telephone or using video technology, but where there is an identified critical need, we have been meeting people in person. We, of course, adhere to Public Health Scotland’s guidance on safe distancing, personal and environmental hygiene to mitigate any risks of spreading the Coronavirus.

We have also been supporting those people who are unable to leave their house with their shopping and/or collection of medications. We really are doing everything we can to help, and we will continue to do this post-Covid.

We are continuing to fundraise for Highland One Stop Shop for 2020/21, so if you can help with this, please get in touch with us
