One Stop Shops help people tackle cost of living crisis thanks to the National Lottery

Posted on 7th June 2023

Autism initiatives Scotland are tackling the cost-of-living crisis with Cost-of-Living Workshops, which have been made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery

The workshops, which are being delivered from Autism Initiatives Scotland One Stop Shops in Edinburgh, Perth and Highland, have been made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery.

The Cost of Living project entails proving more access to support and services for autistic communities and the people within them, a number of whom may be vulnerable or have reported experiencing hardship due to the current climate.

The One Stop Shops will be providing group workshops, followed by individual 1:1 specialist advice sessions to address any pressing concerns the people who use the services may have.

Matthew Day, National One Stop Shop Manager said: “We’re very grateful to the National Lottery for supporting our new ‘Autism Initiatives - One Stop Shop Cost-of-Living Workshops’ project that we’re running from Number 6 in Edinburgh, Number 3 in Perth and from the Highland One Stop Shop. The workshops are designed to help people with autism be better able to deal with cost-of-living increases, whilst our 1:1 appointments with specialist advisors, depending on individual need, will focus on the likes of income maximisation; debt minimisation and prevention; housing security and homelessness prevention”

The National Lottery Community Fund, Scotland Chair, Kate Still said: “National Lottery funding can make amazing things happen in local communities across the country. This project delivered by Autism Initiatives is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others. National Lottery players can be proud to know that the money they raise is helping to support this vital work which is making a real difference to so many.”

A big Thank You to The National Lottery and people who play the National Lottery for the fantastic work that has been made possible in local communities. We are thrilled that so many people will be able to benefit from the funding in such a vital and timely way.
