Established in 2012, We Grow was set up by Autism Initiatives with National Lottery funding. We Grow provides fresh local produce within the community of Southport and Sefton, whilst offering outdoor supported work placements for autistic people, helping to improve their employability.
We pride ourselves on recycling as best we can, making our own compost, harvesting rainwater and reducing our use of single use plastics. In addition, we have an on-site pond, numerous bird tables, hedgehog tunnels and bug hotels that encourage wildlife to flourish.
Part of the community
We Grow grows and sells a great range of seasonal fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs from its own site and sourced from other local producers. We also sell free range eggs from our own chickens and honey from on-site bees, as well as a small range of local deli produce.
Sales can be from our on-site shop, but we also deliver weekly and fortnightly bags to local homes and businesses, as well as operating mobile shops.
We also spend time upcycling furniture and bicycle parts, making them useful again.
Please follow us on Facebook for up to date information. If you would like to order local veg regularly to your door, please get in touch.
Enterprise
Working alongside Peterhouse School and OSSME within Autism Initiatives and many local school, we create a selection of meaningful supported work placements that can be delivered outside the traditional classroom.
Young people will learn valuable work and social skills, increase their confidence and self-esteem, improve their health and wellbeing and can receive support into employment. This placement can be supported by accredited E-learning.
Flexible education & learning
Funding is required to access social enterprise. This can come from local authorities, education establishments and can be self-funded. Occasionally scholarships can be awarded.
If you are interested in finding out more about flexible education placements, please do get in touch.
