Personal & Academic Success!

Every service user is different and has different strengths and needs

Ashleigh is one of our amazing Senior Support workers in our Supported Living services.

Ashleigh says “I started my journey with Autism Initiatives over 5 years ago as an agency support worker. Very different from my last job, as an Area Community fundraiser for a local charity for over 16 years. I decided that I wanted to try something different and I have never looked back. After working various shifts on an ad hoc basis, I decided to leave the agency and apply for a part-time job with Autism Initiatives. Within a year I had moved up into a Senior Support worker role and then decided to increase my contract to full time about a year and half ago. In September of this year I have started studying my QCF Level 3 in Health and Social care with the financial support from Autism Initiatives.
“My Journey has been very rewarding both personally and academically. The organisation provides an extensive training package which has educated me on all areas of my job role as a Support Worker and has enhanced my understanding of Autism.”
“I believe that a person centred approach is the key when working with people with Autism. Every service user is different and has different strengths and needs. We as support workers play an important role in providing support on a daily basis. We use different approaches to help individuals overcome difficulties in their daily lives and maximising their potential to succeed. I am part of a team who are committed to developing the skills and choices of our service users. The staff are passionate and dedicated, who offer excellent quality care. My job over the last 5 years has been challenging, satisfying and fun but also very rewarding.”
