Peterhouse School is proudly celebrating their 50th anniversary this week.

The Southport school provides specialist education for autistic children and young people, aged 5 to 19.

Peterhouse’s “Gold Week” celebrations are currently in full swing, offering a diverse range of activities that bring together the entire school community.

Highlights include a cheese and wine evening for alumni students, parents and staff, the creation of a time capsule, a fun-filled Family Fun Day, a teddy bear’s picnic, and an inspiring exhibition showcasing the artistic talents of the students.

Established in 1974 by the founder Pat Minshull, a parent driven by the needs of her autistic son, Peterhouse School has become a cornerstone of specialist education in the region.

Head Teacher Calvin Wallace expressed his pride in the school’s legacy:

“For over 50 years, Peterhouse has stood as a beacon of specialist education for autistic young people,” he stated. “We are immensely proud to have offered consistent, tailored support and a truly nurturing environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential.”

An 50th anniversary animation video was also shown for the first time to the whole school, as well being premiered on social media. The animation was created by illustrator Anna Rickards, and features voiceover and script writing from several students and staff at Peterhouse.

As this golden milestone is reached, the entire Peterhouse community looks forward to many more years of the school providing exceptional education that empowers autistic young people.

For those wishing to join in the celebrations virtually, Peterhouse School is sharing updates and highlights from their “Gold Week” on their Facebook page: @PeterhouseSchool.
