Autism Initiatives recently hosted a Sports Day for the people who use our services, and the energy, determination, and big smiles made it a day to remember.
The Summer Fun Day took place at Blackpool Sports Centre, where attendees were brought together from across Blackpool, Liverpool, Southport, Warrington, and Lancashire. The event was planned by Health and Wellbeing Leads Danniella and Dani, who work to support autistic adults with their health and wellbeing.
Health and Wellbeing Lead, Danniella Benson said:
“The energy was incredible as everyone jumped into a huge range of activities throughout the day.“
From classic running races, throwing games, and a high-stakes tug of war to archery, basketball, boccia, and giant Connect Four, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy.
Boxing fans had a special treat with a dedicated session led by British professional boxer Brian Rose, alongside plenty of action on the football pitch. For those looking for creative or relaxing ways to join in the fun, the bouncy castle, colouring station, and archery.
Daniella said:
“At Autism Initiatives, we are passionate about creating inclusive, fun opportunities that build confidence, foster friendships, and promote health and well-being. Events like this highlight the incredible community we share every single day.“
There was also the option to try out DJing sessions at a dedicated DJ booth, which was a huge hit. This al led up to an energetic disco where everyone showed off their best moves on the dance floor.
Whether trying out a new sport, enjoying the music, or getting a little bit competitive, everyone had a fantastic time trying new things and catching up with friends from across our regions.
Health and Wellbeing Lead Dani said:
“We’d like to say massive thank you to Active Blackpool and the team Blackpool Sports Centre for helping us to organise such a vibrant day. The team did their utmost to welcome us, and make sure everyone was supported to try out some new sports and activities in a way that suited them“
We can’t wait for the next Fun Day, and to see what else our Health and Wellbeing Leads have in store!
